Meet The September

Meet The September

Written by The Strategy

Shoe shopping in our beloved nation of Canada, can prove to be a struggle. All to often, we hear the words: “We don’t carry that style,” and “We no longer have your size.” Dreadful words no one wants to hear when searching for the shoes you’ve been eyeing on the Instagram of your favourite influencer (*cough* Chrissy Rutherford *cough*).

E-commerce options for Canadian luxury shopping is very limited, and shipping, duties and taxes can easily make the shoes we’ve been saving for, totally unaffordable. So, we were more than ecstatic when we came across Canada’s most stylish secret: The September. On The September’s website, one will find everything from Jimmy Choo Bing mules to Veja sneakers, all with the promise of free shipping on orders over $100 and no import duties (if you’re shopping in Canada) to surprise you at check-out.

Founder and CEO of The September, Christine Carlton launched the company in 2013 and has since gained a loyal following, thanks to it’s expertly curated selection and unmatched quality of customer service. As Christine put it, she wants customer’s to “come to our website and understand we’ve curated the best brands, and within those brands, we’ve curated the best styles.” Having worked at Canada’s famous Holt Renfrew for 17 years, as the VP of Accessories, Christine is no stranger to the accessories game. Opportunity inspired her to start The September, after being involved in Canadian luxury retail and realizing that no-one was really entering the e-commerce space. With her experience and relationships with luxury vendors, starting The September seemed like a no-brainer.

The e-commerce website sells predominately footwear, but also has branched out into accessories, homewares and lifestyle. Since we discovered it, we haven’t looked back.
