As a content creator, Allegra Shaw’s Instagram, blog and YouTube channel are all massive sources of inspiration. Whether she’s dishing on style, travel or anything in between, she has an eye for what looks good. She’s also co-owner of Uncle Studios, which offers a selection of basics and and accessories. We visited her Toronto apartment shortly after she moved in, and were already inspired by her space. We sat down with Allegra to discuss further what exactly inspires her enviable style.

How do you start your day off?
I drink coffee and I meditate. That’s my morning routine.
What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?
When I get ready, I either listen to music, or I have a podcast going on. I’ve been loving the Harry Styles album (which is very unlike me) and the Second Life and Business of Fashion podcasts.
How do you formulate your outfit for the day?
If I have something big going on the next day, and I know I’m going to be rushed in the morning, I usually plan my outfit the night before. Otherwise, it is a morning of decision. If I’m not out in the world, I’m in sweatpants.

What are your closet essentials?
A good pair of jeans, a perfect white t-shirt and a leather jacket.
What is your biggest fashion regret?
Probably almost everything I ever wore in high school.
You always splurge on, and you always save on…
I always splurge on experiences. I always save on designer goods. I always buy my designer bags and stuff, second hand.
What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?
I don’t know if I would steal clothing, but I would definitely steal my hair. I had long luscious teenage hair.
What inspires your style most?
I love Pinterest. I love looking at Instagram and fashion weeks. I love getting inspo from movies and directors and their style.
You’re Number 1 style tip is…
My number one style tip is be yourself and dress how you feel. You don’t have to have a specific style, you can just go with how you feel every morning.
