The Stay At Home Beach Vacation

As we come upon our fourth week in quarantine, we are just about going stir crazy. We’ve updated our bar carts, redone our coffee tables, reorganized our jewelry and found multiple other ways to keep busy, but still, we are getting bored of the sameness that every day tends to have.

Before we started practicing social distancing and #WFH protocols, Team TS had big travel plans. One team member was headed to Africa for a safari, one to Istanbul, and one to the far off beaches of Sri Lanka. Like we said, big travel plans. Instead of getting down in the dumps about the trips that would no longer be happening, we decided to spin it and create the perfect stay at home vacation.

With a few wardrobe additions, some scents to remind us of beach-y scenes, and good old fashion imagination, we’re spending this weekend transporting ourselves to the tropical destinations of our dreams.

SET THE SCENE

In order to set the scene for our little non-getaway-getaway, we’re turning all our electronic devices off. Yes, you read that correctly. At 5PM on Friday, we are doing the proverbial, clock out and walk out, with a OOO e-mail setting, and phones turned to Do Not Disturb. To stimulate our sense of smell, we’re lighting our favourite candle of the moment, Nest’s Mediterranean Fig that instantly transports us to a land of turquoise waters with scents of crushed fig leaves and blue cypress.

GET IN THE MOOD

While the candle fills our space with distant aromas, we’re getting ourselves in the mood. After an exfoliation that gets rid of duller looking skill, we’re applying our favourite face mask of all time (high praise!), Tata Harper’s Resurfacing Mask. While many masks boast of their brightening capabilities, the Resurfacing Mask actually does leave our skin with a subtle and healthy glow. To add to that glow, we’re applying GOOP’s GOOPGLOW Body Luminizer. It applies like a lotion, and leaves skin soft and radiant with a ‘candlelit glow’. As an added bonus, it also leaves an imperfection-blurring sheen, in case we do want to turn on our phone for a quick ‘holiday’ selfie. Before we leave the bathroom, we do a spritz (or three) of Bobbi Brown’s Beach Perfume, that evokes the scent of warm sunshine and a sea breeze. It’s basically summer in a bottle.

HIT UP YOUR WARDROBE

It’s time to change up from our #WFH wardrobe and get ourselves into something more tropical. Inspired by Zoe Kravitz’s High Fidelity character, we’re wearing PatBO’s Tropical Print Shirt. Even though Canadian temperatures have yet to hit the double digits (for longer than a day), we’re cranking our heat and slipping into AGOLDE’s Straight-Fit Denim shorts. Lastly, because we’ve been skipping accessories since quarantine, we’re finishing our look off with Shashi’s Shell Choker.

ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY

Now that we fit the scene we have set, there’s nothing left to do but enjoy our stay-at-home-vacation. We’re pouring ourselves a BistroTea Organic Fruit Berry tea, with a twist! Instead of enjoying the beverage hot, we’re adding a few ice cubes and drinking it cold. Then, we’re curling up with our drink in hand, and either Roman Holiday on the television, or whatever beach read that has been taking up space on your nightstands, in our hands.
