Tandya Stewart

Bio

We are huge fans of Tandya Stewart’s blog, Simply Tandya, mainly because we love her classic and timeless style, and the way she balances a high/low look. We reached out to Tandya to learn what inspires her style, and what style tips she has to share.

Q&A

How do you start your day off?

I start off my day with a 10 minute meditation session. I use the Calm app, and it has been one of the greatest things that I have added to my daily routine. I then write in my Gratitude journal. I currently have The Five Minute Journal. After this, I make myself a cup of tea, matcha or coffee, read the Washington Post and New York Times, then I start going through my emails.

What’s going on in the background when you are getting ready?

As I am getting ready, I always have music playing in the background. I usually listen to classical music on vinyl. My favourite is Beethoven’s Symphony No.3 Eroica. Lately, I have been listening to the Bridgerton soundtrack of covers played during the show. I am obsessed!

You never leave home without…

I never leave home without chapstick or lipgloss. I recently started using Lancôme‘s Juicy Tubes Original, and it is a total throwback.

What are your closet essentials?

My closet essentials are any items that are timeless, classic, and can be worn again and again. I love a good blazer, coat, jeans, sneakers, tees and boots/booties.

What is your biggest fashion regret?

It’s funny; I was just thinking about this. My biggest fashion regret would be wearing a short dress to my senior prom 10 years ago. My reasoning for wearing a short dress, was so I could get multiple uses out of it. I never wore my prom dress again, and I wouldn’t even be able to fit in it now, if I tried.

You always splurge on, and you always save on…

I like to splurge on well-made pieces that will last for decades. I recently purchased a vintage Chanel from 1993, that still has so much more life to give. I always save on fast fashion. I never purchase with a ‘just because’ mentality. I prefer quality over quantity.

What is one piece of clothing you wish you could steal from your 16 year old self?

One piece of clothing I was I could steal from my 16 year old self is my letterman jacket. I first joined Varsity basketball in my sophomore year of high school, and I would love to still have that with me.

What inspires your style most?

Anything that is effortless and simple inspires my style the most. I like having a minimal capsule wardrobe with items that I can wear every season. I am inspired by timeless and classic styles.

You’re Number 1 style tip is…

My #1 style tip is: Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident.
