We can guarantee that at every point in your life, a hoodie has been a part of your wardrobe. From the time you were a toddler to today, you’ve most likely had a hoodie in your arsenal. We can say that Team TS members have had many. From hole-ridden ones that have been with us for years, to ‘fancier’ ones that we wear on ‘fancier’ occasions. However, it wasn’t until we sheltered in place for over a year (and continue to do so), that we realized just how versatile our hoodies are.
For the most part, our hoodies were deemed our ‘comfort’ clothes, and worn around the house with leggings and big wool socks, or on a summer cottage getaway with denim shorts and Birkenstocks. As Team TS discussed, our members rarely if ever, wore a hoodie for brunch or a work event. It seemed too casual. Then,in 2019, Lauren Santo Domingo was spotted on the streets clad in a white oversized hoodie, black raw-hem cropped skinnies, black patent mules and a mini black Hermés Kelly. It was a moment of pure hoodie clarity. Who knew hoodies could be so chic?
Fast forward to the monster of a year that was 2020. Through last spring to last summer, fall and winter, and continuing into this spring, our hoodies have become a wardrobe staple, that we reach for almost everyday and for almost every occasion. We’ve discovered that our hoodies are versatile layering pieces that makes us feel extra cosy, but can be styled in so many ways. They can be layered under blazers, trenches, denim jackets – any kind of jacket really. They can be styled with leather pants, denim shorts, skinny jeans or wide leg, and for cozier days, they can match your tracks. For added style details, you can gather the hood around your neck, fold the hood at the top of your shoulders, or let it hang however it lands. They can be dressed down with cottons and denims, or dressed up with silks and elevated footwear. The options for styling are endless.
As one of the top trends for Spring/Summer 2021, we’re excited for days when the world slowly re-opens and we can start experimenting more with our hoodies. Neutrals, vintage, logo-print, bold, cropped, oversized, or fitted – you really can’t go wrong.
