As the month of April comes to a wet and rainy end, we’re beginning to look past the promised ‘flowers’ of May, and straight to sunny and hot summer days. Days of bare legs, bare feet and no more dry skin perpetuated by cold temperatures. With the month coming to a close and summer months get closer, we’re getting ready for summer.
Face Base
You have to start somewhere, so we’re starting from the top. After months of cold, harsh weather and repeated mask wearing, our faces could use a little TLC. To start off our pre-summer regiment, we’re adding Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir. The anti-aging serum contains Vitamin C and Polyglutamin Acid, and reduces the appearance of dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and helps to brighten the skin – exactly what we need coming out of winter. Following that, we’re incorporating Fenty Skin’s Flash Nap. The two-in-one eye cream and concealer primer does just as the name suggests – fakes a flash nap. It wakes up tired looking eyes by covering dark circles and reducing puffiness. Lastly, we don’t know about you, but our lips are the first to take a hit the moment the temperatures begin to drop. To bring them back to life, we’re using Fresh’s Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm to hydrate. It’s a definite bonus that the balms come in flavours like caramel and peach, that remind us of our Lip Smacker days.
Skin Is In
Moving further down, we’re prepping our legs for the light of day with the help of eos Shave Cream and a Flamingo razor. The shave cream does exactly as advertised and moisturizes our skin after shaving for 24 hours. We also love that it can be used when shaving wet or dry (meaning we can get that missed patch post-shower, without fear of razor burn). We’ve been Flamingo razor converts since discovering it on a Walmart run a few years ago. The 5-blade razor gives a close shave, while the hydrating strip with aloe very helps the blade glide smoothly along your skin. Post shower, we’re applying the fast-absorbing Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum-Bum Cream. The salted caramel and pistachio scent put us in a summer mindset, while the cupuaçu butter, açaí oil, and coconut oil tightens, smoothes and adds a very slight hint of shimmer to skin.
Prep For Your Pedi
We’ve been dying to wear our new Tkees sandals for a day out, but have to admit we’ve been negligent at best with our foot care. Our feet are simply not ready to be seen by anyone else. To buff our feet back to life, we’re using Spongeables Pedi-Scrub foot buffer. The sponge not only buffs away dead skin, but also cleanses, exfoliates and moisturizes the feet. Each sponge lasts 20+ washes, but we noticed the difference by the 5th use. Aprés shower and right before bed, we’re using Olive & June’s Heel Balm. The overnight treatment repairs dry, cracked skin, and locks in moisture. Finally, an application of Soap & Glory’s Heel Genius either overnight, or whenever we’re lounging in socks, keeps our feet baby soft, and ready for sandal season.
