What Inspired Team TS This Week
Inspiration is all around us. It can come from art, coffee table books, people we see on the streets, travel, music – really, anywhere. When the pandemic hit and life went into lockdown, we struggled to find inspiration within the four walls of our work from home set-ups. After over a year of searching, we’ve come to realize that inspiration can come from even the smallest of details.
As The Strategy hopes to share the inpsiriaton behind the style of our favourite fashion insiders and muses, we’ve decided to share with you the little details in life that have been inspiring us. Here is what inspired us this week.
We used to think pearls were just for our mothers, nay our grandmothers. But, for Summer 2021, we are loving the added detail of a pearl necklace to our vintage tees. Just peeping out from the collar, a strand of pearls stands out from the chunky chains and chokers we have been wearing. We also love the juxtaposition of a dainty pearl necklace against a worn-in tee.
Obviously HBO Max’s new Gossip Girl series was all we talked about Thursday morning in TS HQ. As huge fans of the original, we were so excited that the reboot finally aired. Already, we’re inspired to wear oversized button-downs with bike shorts and deep v knit sweaters with heeled loafers for Fall. While the storyline may be a bit much, we already know we’re tuning in each week for a healthy dose of sartorial inspiration.
Don’t get us wrong, we love our Pinterest boards, but at TS, we love a good ole’ fashioned mood board as a simple source of inspiration. Each season, we love compiling our office mood board with images from magazines and random clippings. This season, we’ve kept it simple with clean lines and minimal images.
Yes, we inspire ourselves and we’re not afraid to admit it. Pulsing through our office speakers for the last week or so, has been our very own Summer Time Songs playlist on Spotify. Cardi B, Bob Marley, and Leah Kate has been our background noise, and we love it.
Talking fashion, we don’t know who wasn’t inspired by the Balenciaga Fall 21 Couture show. The show was Demna Gvasalia’s first haute couture show for the house and he did not disappoint. We loved the throwback to vintage Balenciaga that Demna Gvasalia managed to make ultra modern. We drooled over the individual pieces of each look, and are now trying to figure out how to incorporate the wide hats into our wardrobes. If you aren’t ready to make the commitment and buy one of your own, we suggest you play around with Madofficial’s Balenciaga Couture filter for IG Stories – we know we did.
