Easy Summer Hair

Easy Summer Hair

Written by The Strategy

In birthday celebration of the wonder that is Gisele Bündchen, we’re taking a little inspiration from her for our summer hair woes. When it comes to summer, more often than not, the bad hair days out number the good hair days. Thanks to humidity, sun, chlorine, sweat…there’s a lot for your tresses to battle. The usual weaponry consists of flat irons and hair constrictors (hair elastics) for those with the dreaded frizz. And for those ladies with hair that goes as flat as yesterday’s sparkling water, the battle involves volumizers and/or hair donuts. All of which are loathed and despised greatly, especially during the warmer months.

For the last couple seasons, magazines and runways alike have kind of been all over the place when it comes to hair. Which is good news for those of us with hair battles. For flat hair girls: Marc by Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2014 runway went so far as to even tie the models’ hair to their necks for a flatter look. While at D&G there were buns and twists and waves galore. A Frizz Fighter’s dreamland (bouquet of flowers optional). Possibly taking a cue from the movement toward a more effortless and minimalistic beauty look over all, many designers opted for a natural looking hair do. With the exceptions of a few like Chanel’s super platinum angular bob, and Alexander McQueen, who skipped hair altogether and went for gladiator helmets instead.

Letting your hair just be is the ultimate challenge, but also the ultimate goal. Wake-up-and-go hair is the ideal. With all the different trends this year, having a blank canvas to work off of allows you to take on whichever trend you like without needing to change your whole look. It also means that you can change your mind on your outfit last minute without having to worry if your messy bun will match your midi skirt.

Though this natural look is meant to work with whatever your hair challenges you with, you might still need a hand from some products. We can’t all be as lucky as Gisele with our hair, so it will take a little work to figure out how to become BFFs with yourrs. Fear not, its worth the time. And practice makes perfect, so you’ll get better once you and your hair get along. Some dry shampoo, a conditioning treatment every now and again…finding your ideal hair cocktail is essential.

Whatever your natural hair MO is, remember that less is more. After scouring pages upon pages of tips and tricks, the best advice is boiled down to protecting and working with your hair rather than against it, trying to transform it every time you look in a mirror. Embrace the natural ways of your lovely locks and they’ll behave in a more cooperative manner.

If all else fails, HATS.
