A little while ago Vogue did a story about summer nail polishes and complimenting popsicles to match. We liked the idea so much that we wanted to do our own take! And so, we present to you our three nail polishes coupled with three gourmet (and delicious) popsicles, courtesy of Toronto based Philip’s Ice Pops.
When selecting nail colours, we often think about our complexion and various outfit options. More often than not, we find a colour that suits our hands and closets, then stick to that colour until it’s eventually discontinued. At which point, the process repeats.
Basing our nail colour on what we are comfortable with often limits our desire to step out of the box and try something different. Nails have become something that should match our over look. Which can be boring, let’s be honest. Sometimes it’s fun to choose a colour that’s a little out of the norm.
The way you can go about it is finding colours that transition you from one to another. Sure, you can be committed to blushy nude tones. But from there you can branch out into orange and corals. If you’re a devotee of the classic reds, maybe take a trip with some raspberry. And if you’re partial to blues, periwinkle is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. Which can, in turn, lead to lilac shades, light pinks, to peach, pastel yellows, lime greens…and before you know it you’ve gone from “No, I only wear (insert chosen nail shade here),” to sporting the whole colour wheel, one step at a time.
Now about those popsicles…
Philip’s Ice Pops are the best things you never heard of. Seriously, they are delicious.
Katie Walker, the creator and maker of the gourmet ice treats, crafts each one from recipes she dreams up herself. The three staple flavours featured with our summer nails are Watermelon Lime Sea Salt, Strawberry Basil and Lemon Ginger Rosemary. Philip’s Ice Pops also have seasonal flavours, which this summer is Cherry Vanilla Bean. And if the three we got to taste are any indication, we bet the seasonal flavours are to die for as well.
Philip’s Ice Pops are served up from the cutest bike cart ever, but they can also be found at boutiques and shops in and around Toronto. For a complete list of locations, events, and other good stuff, be sure to visit the website (philipsicepops.com), and follow them on Twitter, and Instagram.
Now that you’ve been enlightened on how to step out of the boring nails box, and about the best popsicles in town, you can take your colourful nails out for a stroll to get some Philip’s Ice Pops.
Enjoy, kiddos!
