The Kardashian’s are synonymous with today’s pop culture. They are virtually unavoidable. With bits and pieces of one or more of the family in just about every product group imaginable, they are everywhere, anywhere, and all the places in between.
People who don’t usually go for that kind of stuff are generally the same people that make up a large portion of the fashion crowd. If the Kardashian’s are for the public to be enamoured with, the fashion pack is not part of the public.
Or so they thought.
With the family’s reality show displaying all the gory details for the world to see season after season, the Kardashian/Jenner crew don’t have the greatest reputation. But it looks like one of them has been attempting, and succeeding, at stepping beyond the family’s fame to make a name for herself in modelling world.
What do you get when you take a Kardashian, or rather, Jenner that struts her way into the fashion scene? A good model? Surprisingly, yes.
And so far so good, Kendall. Though we may have all been beyond doubtful of the legitimacy of Kendall Jenner’s modelling drive, she’s managed to prove everyone wrong. Kendall’s been vocal about the fact that she wasn’t necessarily feeling the love at first, but it seems as though the fashion industry, photographers, designers, and casting agents have warmed up to her.
Campaigns for Givenchy, a coveted spot in the “Balmain Army,” walking in the shows for Chanel, and Marc Jacobs, magazine editorials and covers (not based around her family’s fame)…she’s doing everything right. It’s no wonder we keep seeing more and more of her. We have no doubt that her popularity will only keep rising. At only eighteen years old, Kendall’s got quite a lot of a model’s career ahead of her.
Despite the backlash that Kendall’s received from the general public about being braless and topless and otherwise in little to no clothing, the rest of us know that it’s all in the name of fashion. That’s simply what models do, people. If we had Kendall’s body, we would be showing it off too. We’re just pleased that she’s continuing on her path to fashion model fame, as opposed to becoming just another reality star.
Besides breaking free from her reality show roots, it’s different to see someone going from celebrity to model rather than model to actor, as is the norm. We’re curious to see if anyone else jumps on the wagon and tries to break into the high fashion modelling game.
For a while it may have seemed like we were keeping up with the Kardashian’s, but it looks like they’re going to have start keeping up with Kendall.
