Well, it’s officially Fall. The likelihood of warm sunny days are behind us, and what we are left with is chilly winds and coloured leaves. Though it’s sad to say goodbye to the heat, it’s not all bad. With Fall we get apple pie, Halloween, and boots.
And, boy, do we have something to say about boots.
Knee high boots, particularly, are the most troublesome. Speaking on behalf of the vertically challenged, knee high boots are the enemy we want to be friends with. They can be polished, functional, and sexy all at the same time, which is difficult to say of other common cold weather wear. If only they didn’t tend make legs under 5’3 look odd and/or the ladies under 5’3 look like they’re just wearing pants. But I guess that last point would be mainly directed toward thigh high boots (another evil all together.)
Point is, tall boots are not meant to be taken for granted. Regular heels are something that everyone can wear, and ankle boots are a safe zone for all. But trust me when I say that nothing hurts more than the first time you try on a pair of Hunter boots and the top jams into the back of your knee when you walk. The physical pain you can get over. The disappointment that Hunter boots aren’t for you? That wound will never truly heal.
So listen up taller people of the world, you wear those knee high boots with pride, okay? If not for yourselves, at least for those of us who may never know what it’s like.
