Every year Pantone releases it’s annual Colour of the Year award and for 2015, we welcomed (cue drumroll…) lucky number Marsala.

Now, we have to say, we’re pretty excited about this. The colour Marsala refers to a sweet fortified dessert wine (hence why we love it already) and originates from the city of Marsala in Sicily, Italy. Unlike trends that come and go seasonly, you can expect to see this colour year round in all things beauty, fashion, industrial, and design. And if you’re anything like us, chances are you already have traces of it in your closet.

But, why Marsala you ask?

It’s highly versatile. From fashion to beauty to home interiors and decor, Marsala is universally appealing to men and women and translates into every area of our lives.

It’s flattering. Unlike that mustard yellow poncho you thought looked good on you, Marsala compliments every skin tone, making it suitable for everyone to wear one way or another.

It represents everything we want for 2015; mix 1 part sophistication with 3 parts confidence, 1 part mystery and 2 parts luxury and you get Marsala. It’s basic mathematics.

It’s something we can all get excited about. For those who don’t know where to start, we’ve suggested some ways to best incorporate this hearty shade into your everyday style. And so, this year, may you join us in our obsession as we welcome Marsala into our wardrobes.
