New Girl

She's just being Gigi

As the new face of Maybelline

...And in the infamous Tom Ford 'Velvet Orchid' ad

Written by The Strategy

For anyone that pays attention to the fashion industry and it’s many faces, seeing models come and go is nothing new. We’ve seen the birth of the Supermodel though the likes of Cindy Crawford, Chirsty Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and countless others whose names we could all probably list off more efficiently than we want to admit. The typical “It” models have their fifteen minutes of fashion and style fame where we obsess over their hair, and then as quickly as they came in the door, they are out of it. It’s not anyone’s fault, it’s just the nature of the business. Until someone comes along who is so magnetic that everyone works to keeps them around.

One of these people is Gigi Hadid.

At 19, Gigi is no newbie to modelling. Though she’s only made her runway debut this past year, she’s been a Guess Girl since she could walk, and has been relatively under the radar of the major fame that modelling can bring. Growing up around some of the most famous people in Hollywood, she is also no rookie in living a lavish life. Digging a little deeper, however, it is so wonderfully different to see just how normal Gigi Hadid actually is.

Knowing that she went to an ordinary public school, shops at CVS, has a knack for athletics, and happens to have a Tom Ford campaign on the side is part of what makes her likeable. Gigi has the winning combination of being ordinary and extraordinary. She’s got the same spark as the greats which came before her.

Speaking of that Tom Ford campaign, she’s also adding a Maybelline contract to a list which also includes the 2015 Pirelli Calendar, Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition, two music videos, one short film, a host of runway shows and magazine covers, and a Model of the Year award from the first annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards.

All in a days work.

Clearly, Gigi is here for the long run. And we can’t wait to see what she’ll accomplish next.
