This past Friday, the much anticipated Cinderella film finally came out. It was everything I hoped for: beautiful, magical and filled with beautiful costumes – umm where can we find a glass slipper that won’t break after one Saturday night?
After watching the film, it had me thinking about fairy tales in general and how much I love them. It would be very hard to find an individual who did not grow up with them. They are stories of wonder and hope and fill our heads with the idea of true love and good winning over evil. Maybe because I am obsessed with fashion, they also taught me that a good pair of heels can change your life, and a beautiful dress can transform you. Also, fairy tales led me to hope that forest animals would come and get me ready each day.
I would say it’s just me who feels this way, but a quick browse of the ‘Fashion & Lifestyle’ section of the bookstore, showed me that I am not alone. Diane Von Furstenburg did a take on The Emperors New Clothes, called The Empresses New Clothes, Viktor & Rolf did their own collection of Fairy Tales and I still cannot wait to read “This Little Piggy Went to Prada” to my first born.
The team at #TS has rounded up some of our favourites and highly recommend them to you all, whether they be for reading to yourself, your children or for the purpose of a coffee table book that is a great conversation piece.
