Room Renew

Room Renew

Written by The Strategy

There comes a time in everyone’s life when they are itching for change. The need for a fresh start is clawing at your mind, even though there is nothing major in your life that needs addressing. Some people reach for an escape through a holiday or by treating themselves to a little retail therapy. But when those just won’t do, there is one other thing I’ve found that is the perfect solution: Redoing your bedroom.

Recently I found myself needing a change, and overhauling my room was exactly what I needed. It might be the sense of organization, but there is something refreshing about sprucing up your bedroom. It’s a feeling in line with getting a good haircut, and cleaning out your closet. Whether you want to go all the way to painting or prefer keeping it simple with some new decor, the sheer experience of switching up a place you spend as much time in as your bedroom is enlightening.

Not to sound like I’m regurgitating verbatim from HGTV, but decluttering your space is one of the best things you can do. Especially if you deal with stress or having trouble sleeping. Sorting through all the clutter that can build up is commitment, but so worth the work. Making sure to find or at least make a space for everything to go (if it’s not trash), is essential on your clutter-free journey. All those storage bins, baskets, and shelves you walk past all the time in home stores? This is where they shine. But mainly they just keep everything nice and hidden, that way your mind doesn’t have a pile of clutter keeping it awake at night.

It sounds crazy, but it does make a difference.

Redecorating your bedroom also means that you can realign the space with your current interests and inspirations. If the last time you re-did your room you were in a totally different mindset, it’d not going to be as relaxing to you as it could be. Making little changes such as adding in candles, vases, and some flowers in your favourite colours and patterns let’s you make the room yours again.

Because it’s your room, after all. If anyone should love it, it should be you.
