Grandma's Shoes

Grandma's Shoes

Written by The Strategy

Arriving at my Grandma’s house as a child, meant immediately running upstairs to her closet and proceeding to try on every pair of her heels. My feet slid out of her size 6 shoes, then, but I still knew those shoes were something special. Croc embossed sling-backs, classic peep toes, rounded toes – all with a chunky block heel. Now, as a twenty-something with size 9 feet, I am so mad that her feet weren’t 3 sizes bigger, or mine 3 sizes smaller. My Grandma had a closet full of classics, and thanks to Chanel (or Uncle Karl), those shoes are an absolute must have.

Gran was on to something with those shoes. The slingback held her feet in, while the shorter block heel allowed for her to run around all day with ease. The neutral textures and colours allowed for them to be worn with everything and anything, and transition with ease from day to night. As a working woman myself, these shoes are ideal, as they automatically update my casual look of loose jeans and a black long sleeve tee, and are dressier than a sneaker.

Below are some of my current favourites in the sling-back style. Choices, that I’m sure, my Grandmother would be pleased with.
