Era Hopping

Era Hopping

Written by The Strategy

The trends for this winter and the upcoming S/S season are particularly… scattered.

We’ve noticed, and we’re sure you’ve noticed too.

While they vary immensely, they all follow one common train of thought: eras. Somewhere in the designer pipeline, everyone thought to pick an era and run with it. J.W Anderson, Balmain and Marc Jacobs have stakes in the 80s, Chloé lives in the 70s alongside Lanvin, Calvin Klein Collection is still touting the slip dress, and that’s just to name a few.

The best part about having era upon era (upon era) to chose from is the quality of mix and match we can get. A little 60s with a dash of the 80s? Not unheard of. Love the 70s but also some modernism? Can do.

We like to think the blanket trend started with the beloved denim of the 90s which lead everyone to the 70s flares, but these things are always up for debate.

We’re just glad that there is so much room to play with style. Especially in such a huge way. These era trends aren’t secluded to a life in magazines and runway shows, they are being produced for us to buy right now. We don’t have to envy the looks and go for months without being able to emulate them, they’re out there for us to experiment with.

For me, that means opening up my mind to the wacky ways of the 1980s. As previously mentioned, I’m all too glad to have missed out on the decade of big hair and bigger shoulders. Although with the abundance of 80s inspired fashion out there, I just might find myself not entirely hating all of it.

And that, my friends, is the beauty of blankets trends.

Something for everyone.
