'Tis the Season

'Tis the Season

Written by The Strategy

Online shopping is great.

Most of the time.

There are very limited other times that you can shop while in little to no clothing, 24/7, and with an abnormal amount of discounts in the name of free shipping. Online shopping is quick and easy. So easy that it can be done on apps on your phone, you don’t even need your computer. As long as you know your credit card info you are good to go any time, any place.

The trouble with online shopping is that you can never be 100% certain about what you’ve purchased until it arrives at your doorstep a couple weeks later. Buying for yourself is difficult, but shopping for others is even more so. We’re forced to resort to guesstimating, sneaking questions into conversation, snooping a little, and the dreaded flat out asking what size our friends and loved-ones usually take. Even with the measurements, guides, FAQs, reviews, and more that stores provide online, getting lost is common and frustrating.

Never mind sizing that you have to convert from one system to another. We’re looking at you, pant sizes that take a calculator to figure out. Who knew shopping for some jeans would involve so much math? The only thing worse is when you aren’t necessarily a “standard” size. Tall, petite, and everything in between…it becomes a battle of priorities in the end. If you’ve been there done that, you know that return policies can either be your best friend or your worst enemy.

Another worst enemy? Unexpected shipping charges. But let’s not open up that can of worms.

With all of these downsides, why is online shopping still preferred? I guess you could blame sheer laziness, but I’m going to say that it’s simply more efficient than leaving the house (especially during the holiday madness) and getting a parcel in the mail is always exciting.

Whether you shop in your pjs, undies, or with a glass of wine, we wish you the best of luck this holiday season in all your online shopping endeavours.
