I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but prints are kind of everywhere right now. Micro to large size, floral to geometric, anything patterned is having a major moment. A moment we’re predicting will last well into this year.

As we’ve already talked about, this passing A/W season and coming S/S season are all over the map. Quite literally, anything goes. Which isn’t letting up in terms of colours and patterns.

You want florals? You got it. Stripes? Check. Checks? They’re here, too.

The best part about this whole trend is the fact that it gets even better when you do a full print look. A basic jacket and trousers combo, as exhibited in many a collection for S/S 16, is taken up a level with the addition of a print. Sure, dresses are nice when patterned. However there is something— a certain je ne sais quoi— to a paired up set to make a killer printed suit.

We are living in a rare time when a “more is more” philosophy applies beautifully.

Sticking to a strict one print at-a-time rule isn’t totally necessary, however print mixing generally evades most everyone and should be tread upon carefully.

That being said, experiment away! Only good things can come from trying something a little sartorially scary, whether it’s a new style discovery or a lesson in what doesn’t work for you. Best case scenario: Insta-worthy, envy-inspiring style. Worst case scenario: you have to change before you leave for the day.

All in all, prints are a worthy trend to take a chance on.
