As we re-enter society staying covered with a face mask to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect ourselves and our communities, we’ve had to adjust our beauty routines to accommodate the facial covering.
When it comes to beauty, LA-based beauty expert, trained make-up artist and sales manager at Créme Collective, Marisa Anhaltzer, is our most trusted source. Last week, she gave us some ideas on face mask make-up looks. Today, she is here to give us some tips on how to look your best, when covering half of your face with a face mask.
Stay Hydrated
It is super important to keep you skin a little extra hydrated while wearing a mask! Make sure you don’t skip this step in your skincare routine.
Use Primers
After your skin has been prepped, make-up primers are important to keep your make-up in place while wearing a mask.
Keep Foundation Light
If you choose to wear foundation, keep it light. Half of your face is covered by a mask, so I recommend skipping foundation all together, if possible, to let your skin breathe.
Focus on Your Eyes
Your eyes are the focus, when you wear a mask, so keep your under-eye area bright and smooth. If you don’t use eye cream yet, now is the time! You want your under-eye area to look fresh, smooth, and hydrated. Eye masks are also a nice self-care product to indulge in. As eyeshadow is the new lipstick, have a little fun with it! Lastly, don’t forget to keep you brow game strong.
The Option of Blush & Bronzer
Blush and bronzer are, obviously, option. Your cheeks will be covered mostly by a face mask; if you are going to put on blush, keep it light. For bronzer, I like to add a little to frame my face.
Give Your Lips Some TLC
When it comes to your lips, trade your lipstick for a hydrating lip treatment. Now is the chance to give your lips some extra TLC with a lip treatment, while wearing a mask.
Highlighter is Everything
Highlighter is possibly the most important step, as the eye area is the main area of focus when you wear a mask. Highlighter helps to distract from any under-eye dark circles or bags, and gives an instant glow. I like to apply it in a ‘swoosh’ right about my eyebrow and right below my under-eye area.
