As we all adjust to #stayhome orders and life in quarantine, we’re checking in with TS Alum to learn more about what their life in lockdown is like.
Since loungewear has become de rigueur during lockdown, our favourite tracks to slip into are Le Detresse, made by TS Alums and stylists, Emily Perlstein and Alana Hadid. We caught up with Emily to see how her life in lockdown is going and how she is staying inspired to continuously create loungewear that always earns us compliments.
Are you quarantining with anyone?
With my boyfriend.
What does an average day look like, for you now?
It looks long, LOL. Our showroom and many of our accounts are based in Europe and the Middle East, so I generally am on emails until at least noon. We tend to have calls later in the afternoon. I try and break for lunch around 1PM, and get at least one walk in to get some fresh air. My goal is to start powering down work around 5:30/6PM, and decompress. I will say my boyfriend is an amazing cook, so we normally have dinner around 7/7:30PM, watch some TV and get into bed around 9:30/10PM.
What is a typical outfit you’re rocking now while you’re staying home?
I have never been more grateful to have a sweatpants company! I am in La Detresse sweats 24/7, but that was really nothing new :).
What can you absolutely not live without during this time?
Walks, exercise and my phone. I work out 3x’s a week and try to talk a walk everyday to keep my sanity. My phone, I am always on for work, but my family is on the East Coast, so we try and FaceTime during the week to make the distance seem less.
For you, what is the best part of quarantine, and what is the worst part?
The best part is how much La Detresse has grown! We have grown 600% since 2019, and now have some amazing wholesale partners like Bergdorf Goodman, Shopbop, Intermix, Revolve, Selfridges, etc. The worst part: everything else. Not being able to travel, see my family, see my friends, try new restaurants, and explore.
How are you keeping yourself busy?
Work! It seems like there are never enough hours in the day – I do better when I am busy and working, so I am grateful. My boyfriend and I have also watched some amazing Netflix shows and old movies. He loves going to the market and cooking, so experimenting in the kitchen is definitely our nightly activity.
How are you staying inspired?
I always say this: I love Tumblr. To me, Tumblr is a living, breathing mood board. The great thing about fashion is that everything is always a season ahead, so to be able to constantly be looking for and finding inspiration for our next collection is amazing.
