At The Strategy, we’re all about learning what inspires style. Travel, music, art, movies – inspiration can come from anywhere. After binging all 5 episodes of Halston on Netflix, Team TS is officially inspired.
As each episode progressed, our at home watching wardrobes slowly elevated. At the end of episode 1, our Colourful Standard tracks and messy bun didn’t seem appropriate to wear while watching, and were discarded. By episode 3, we watched in silk robes and a glass of champagne (fancy). Since the last episode ended on our screens, we’ve been inspired by the flawless elegance of Elsa Peretti, the home decor of Liza Minelli (that shelf styling?!), of course, Halston’s designs and way with fabric, and most surprisingly, disco. While we never personally experienced the disco heyday, the shows Studio 54 depictions had us dreaming of disco and all the things we would wear. Unfortunately for us, days of disco are long gone and it seemed too much to reheat yesterdays dinner while wearing fabulous satin strappy sandals in homage to the Studio 54 clientele. However, once the world, or at least our region, reopens, we are going all out.
Sequins, platform, flares…come the reopening of the world, our first night out we are dressing big and completely disco-inspired. Whether the night takes us out dancing, or for a fancier dinner, we’re holding our heads high in outfits that would have the Studio 54 doorman waving us through the elusive doors and garnering a nod from Halston himself.
Though we aim for the elegance of Diane Von Furstenburg, should nights out return, we have hopes of channeling disco fever with some updated items. We’re talking big accessories, Amina Muaddi pumps, Cult Mia pouches, and eyeshadows from Huda Beauty. Once we are able to return to socializing in groups of more than 5, we’re no longer dreaming of disco; we’re making it happen.
We’re calling it: Come Summer 2021, disco is back, baby!
