Spring Ready Skin

Spring Ready Skin

Written by The Strategy

Ok, so it snowed in our city yesterday, but we’re not here to focus on the negatives. Instead, we’re looking onward and upwards and claiming with enthusiasm that spring has indeed sprung. In preparation for Spring temperatures, we’re getting our skin Spring ready with our favourite body lotions and balms.

Harsh winter temperatures and dry air pumped through our apartment heating units have left our skin in pretty horrible states. Regardless of our exfoliation or dedication to coconut oils, it seems our skin was never able to get enough moisture this past winter. As we approach Spring (read: short sleeve and dress weather), we want to fix this and give our skin the extra TLC it deserves.

Team TS tried many a lotion and balms, and these are the ones that made the biggest impact:

goop’s GOOPGENES Nourishing Repair Body Butter

Our skin was waiting for this kind of attention. An application of the luxurious body cream left our skin feeling nourished and fully moisturized throughout the day. That means – there was never a point in the day when our skin felt flakey or dry or needed reapplication.

It’s comprised of bacuri butter, which nourishes the skin with minerals, amino acids and intensive moisture, caviar lime which improves cell turnover and hydration, and mulberry leaf, which moistures, smooths and boosts cell turnover. On first application, the body cream feels rich and thick, but melts into the skin on contact. There is the faintest scent of tangerine-sandalwood, but nothing that gets in the way of our regular perfumes.

For super dry and stressed skin, we also used this product in conjunction with GOOPGENES Fix and Restore Balm for targeted problem areas (we’re talking elbows, hands and feet). The multipurpose salve helps soothe, moisturize and nourish troubled skin. The results are fast, with the balm helping to improve the skin’s moisture barrier within just 30 minutes.

Fenty Skin’s But a Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream with Tropical Oils + Butters

We cannot stress how much we love this Whipped Body Oil Cream. The formula applies thick, and delivers deep hydration, with the oils dissolving into the skin upon application. While it’s a great daily option, because of the tropical fruit and flower inspired fragrance, we kept this cream as a weekend special. It whisked us away from the 9-5 and to a tropical destination.

It’s packed with 7 oils: Kalahari neon, sorrel, baobab, sunflower, rice bran, coconut and jojoba, all which nourish the skin and leave you with a luminous glow. It also contains shea butter to condition and repair the moisture barrier, and glycerin to provide hydration and a subtle sheen.

We also love that the container itself is refillable.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Charlotte’s Magic Body Cream

The newest body cream on the market is Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Body Cream. We’ve sung the praises of Charlotte’s Magic Cream over the years, and this body cream is inspired by it. The cream has a hydrating, smoothing and firming effect on the skin. An application leaves your skin feeling nourished and radiant. Much like the other two creams, this one delivers long lasting results that doesn’t require multiple applications throughout the day.
